Map Of The Vikings Travels

I had no idea that the vikings had traveled so far overland to the east and south. August 14, 2017 4026 × 2502 who were the historical vikings? The vikings were skilled at building ships, sailing them and using their knowledge of the sun and the stars to navigate the sea.

Europe, especially, was the place most traveled by them, judging from the vikings settlements found in different regions within the continent. England happens to have the majority of these. Of course, some also went to north america, and some are said to have traveled down by the western african coast, but we don’t have accurate sources for that.

The year 793 marks the beginning of the viking age as it is when the first recorded raid took place on the coast of northumbria.

The unbroken line on the map indicates more. The viking ships reached as far away as greenland and the american continent to the west, and the caliphate in baghdad and constantinople in the east.
